I designed this chair from one I found in a dumpster dive in Tribeca. I modified the design in several ways— in some cases simplifying superfluous embellishments and in other cases extending themes beyond where they’d previously been. I’ve lost track of the original chair much to my chagrin because seen together, the design choices of the later chair were clarified. One change was to extend the line of the vertical elements of the back into the horizontal piece at the top of the back and to resolve these lines into curves which ended up looking like Mickey Mouse ears.
In spite of this silliness, the chair received honorable mention in an exhibition at the New York Design Center and was shown in the NY Times.
